As Florida insurers cope with billions in hurricane damage claims, and, often, ensuring attempts at insurance fraud, the Colodny Fass award-winning Insurance Defense Litigation team recently added three new attorneys to handle the ensuing influx of legal action, particularly as the Firm’s practice grows statewide.
“Unfortunately, billions in claims inevitably bring a substantial insurance fraud uptick, ultimately adding unnecessary costs to Florida’s recovery,” Colodny Fass Executive Management Partner Amy Koltnow explained. “We’ve brought three new fraud fighters aboard to ensure our insurance company clients and their policyholders get the best counsel possible during this volatile post-catastrophe time.”
The new lawyers will focus on first-party and third-party insurance litigation, insurance coverage opinions, and filing declaratory judgment actions, among other matters.
Leading the new contingent is Taneka Campbell, who joins Colodny Fass in the Senior Associate capacity with experience representing insurance carriers in first-party property losses in state court. A member of The Florida Bar, and an inactive member of the District of Columbia Bar, she has represented insurers in both homeowner and commercial property damage claims in a wide variety of areas, including hurricane-related storm damage, water damage and structural damage to residential property, and fire losses.
Ms. Campbell, a graduate of University of Florida’s Levin College of Law, is known for her strong litigation management and negotiation skills.
To the Firm, Chrystal Robinson brings a litigation management background in the personal injury and health care arenas. A member of the Florida Bar, she is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law.
Rounding out the new additions, Michelle Jacobs is a Cum Laude graduate of Florida International University College of Law and gained legal experience working for several judicial offices and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
For over 40 years, Colodny Fass has represented insurers in complex and high-risk litigation including class actions, bad faith, insurance fraud, multi-jurisdictional cases, coverage matters, and fact-intensive, multi-party lawsuits throughout the State of Florida and the Florida Keys. The Daily Business Review has recognized Colodny Fass as having the Insurance Litigation Department of the Year in South Florida.
